  1. Grate the bananas and taro root into a bowl
  2. Add salt, vinegar, olive oil and sazón with annatto
  3. mix well until the a dough like consistency is achieved
Filling (Picadillo)
  1. Heat olive oil in saucepan, fry sofrito slightly until oil takes on the color of the sofrito
  2. Fry ground beef in deep saucepan, when browned drain grease
  3. Add all reamining Filling ingredients to the ground beef, mix well
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cover for 15 minutes
  5. Stir, cook additional 15 minutes or until filling stiffens
  1. Roll out 1 1/2 tablespoons of the batter on to wax paper until 1/4′”high;
  2. Spread 1 tablespoon of the filling onto the batter
  3. Shape the batter around the filling into a cylinder shape
  4. Deep fry in hot oil until golden brown
Recipe Notes

Although traditionally made with bananas and ground beef, yucca can be substituted for green bananas and any meat or seafood can substituted for round beef.
